Presented here are the foremost HORIZONTAL regulations that affect food safety, both national and European:

SPAIN:

  • Royal Decree 3484/2000, 29 December, by which regulations are established for the hygiene of manufacture, distribution and commerce of prepared foods.
  • Royal Decree 202/2000, 11 February, by which regulations are established for food handlers.
  • Royal Decree 1712/1991, 29 November, on the General Health Registry of Food Products.
  • Royal Decree 140/2003, 7 February, by which sanitary criterion are established for the quality of water destined for human consumption.

EUROPEAN:

  • European Parliament and Council Regulation (CE) nº 852/2004 of 29 April 2004, relative to the hygiene of food products.
  • European Parliament and Council Regulation (CE) nº 853/2004 of 29 April 2000,by which regulations are established specific to the hygiene of food products of animal ori.gn
  • European Parliament and Council Regulation (CE) nº 854/2004 of 29 April 2004, by which regulations are established specific to the official control organization of products of animal origin destined for human consumption.
  • European Parliament and Council Regulation (CE) nº 178/2002 of 28 January 2002, by which the principles and general requirements of food product legislation are established, creating the European Food Safety Authority and determining procedures relative to food safety.
